讲座题目：Optimal Reservoir Operation and Impacts of Climate Variability on Water-Energy System: Experience of bridging science and operation.
Dr. Tiantian Yang is a research scientist in the Center for Hydrometeorology of Remote Sensing (CHRS) at the University of California Irvine, and a hydrologist and reservoir scientists at Deltares USA/Netherland. Dr. Yang’s research focuses on (1) reservoir system operation and optimization, (2) Hydropower management and decision-making, and (3) the interaction among human-built infrastructures, hydrology, and climate. As a young researcher in the fields of hydrology and water resources management, Dr. Yang has published over 30 peer-reviewed SCI journal articles since 2014. Many of his first and corresponding author papers in “Water Resources Research”, “Hydrological Earth System Science”, “Environmental Modeling and Software” have been highly cited and favored by a number of operational agencies over the continental U.S.
In this Talk, Dr. Yang will talk about the sustainable hydropower design and operation, and the impacts of climate change on water-energy system. Dr. Yang will also introduce a decision making platform (termed Delft-FEWS) developed by Deltares (used to be Delft Hydraulics of Netherland), and its application in U.S. National Weather Service and Bonneville Power Administration.
