Short Program Course on Resources and Environmental Management



Program Description

The world is facing serious challenges such as global changes and resources shortage. The increasing global population and rapid economic development lead to increasing demands for resources. Human activities, in turn, have a huge impact on global ecological environment. To understand the evolution of the ecological environment under human influence, the effective management of resources and environment is of great significance to regional sustainable development.

This program is specifically designed to help the students

1. Understand the relationship between resources and environmental management and regional sustainable development,

2. Discuss strategic problems related to human activities, resource and economic development, future earth, ecological and environmental change, as well as regional sustainable development,

3. Follow professional tutors for field trips,

4. Experience the social and cultural environments of China's ecological civilization.

This program includes four interconnected aspects

1. Academic courses (cover a wide range of fields on geography, ecology, environment, culture, economy, science, technology and so on, and is optional for participation) (8 weeks),

2. Field trips (2 weeks),

3. Research seminars (2 weeks, and are accompanied with academic courses) and,

4. Cultural excursion (1 week),

Participants will be awarded a certificate on the short-term course by Faculty of Geographical Science, Beijing Normal University upon the completion of the program.

How to Apply

Entry requirements

1.   Student status certificate or document,

2.  English proficiency certificate (not applicable for English speaking countries),

3. Over 18 years old and under 45 years old,

4.  At least one reference letter from current supervisor,

5. A Program study proposal,

6. Insurance for illness treatment and accidental injury covering the study period in China.

Application Procedure

We would prioritize the candidates recommend by the Faculty of Geographical Science partner institutes and professors, but the program is also open to all students.

Applicants should apply online through Beijing Normal University official website (http://iso.bnu.edu.cn/en/index), and also send documents with subject title “2019 FGS Short Course Program Application” to fgsinternational@163.com, including:

1.   Curriculum Vitae with digital photos, including education experience, research experience, publications, working experience, courses taken, and etc.

2.   Program study proposal (at least 1500 words)

3.   More than one reference letters

4.   Official certificate of enrollment at current educational institution

5.    Language proficiency certificate for students from non-English speaking countries

6.   One scanned copy of passport bio page

Note: All documents must be in English or Chinese. If they are in other languages, a notarized translated copy in Chinese or English must be provided.

The FGS Short Program Course Admission Committee has full discretion on merit-based decisions on which applicants shall receive scholarship.

The recipients need to prepare for their passport and visa, and submit the scanned copy of passport visa page.
